I drew inspiration for Aim At Me from an emotionally abusive relationship that was a bad mixture of romance, friendship, and work. It's about walking away from a relationship knowing that you did everything you could to make it work, and knowing that even though you are choosing to leave in order to save yourself, it is still their loss, because there is no other option but to leave. It's about taking strength in knowing when to end things.
