My Ghost
“My Ghost is about genuine heartbreak, without any of the anger and bitterness that often accompanies it. It’s just about sadness and pain; nothing else. ”

About the song
"My Ghost" is one of the songs I’ve held onto the longest, and it’s definitely one of the saddest I’ve ever written. It came from a rough time when I was trying to get over someone, dealing with the confusion and pain of one of my first breakups. It's a haunting song that’s all about genuine heartbreak, feeling really low and crappy, with no ego or pride—just pure sadness and pain. The second verse is one of the things I’m most proud of writing, so this song will always mean a lot to me.
Lyrics
You taste like sin
I wish I couldn’t remember
Your touch wicked
I’m haunted by your lips on my skin
My Ghost, I can’t shake you
My Ghost, I feel you in my bones
No matter where I run to
No matter where I go
My Ghost, I still feel you
Your love is cheap
So one-sided, so conditioned, so greedy
But still I let you bleed me dry
Your best defense made in the back of my mind
My Ghost, I can’t shake you
My Ghost, I feel you in my bones
No matter where I run to
No matter where I go
My Ghost, I still feel you
I built you up among stars in my mind
I put your name up in dazzling lights
I painted all of your red flags white
I built you up far too high
My Ghost, I can’t shake you
My Ghost, I feel you in my bones
No matter where I run to
No matter where I go
My Ghost, I still feel you
And you feel like home
Oh, you feel like home
Oh
I said goodbye
Every night I swear it’s for the last time
